Developing our vision

What a sweet month it has been! I’ve been fervently shadowing different Adventures staff members and pouring into the current Gap Squad that is here until Januay. Aderkee has been taking one of the teams out into the villages and seeing real change in the lives of the kids and families there.

One thing we have been repeatedly asking ourselves in this season is “what is our vision as a couple?” and “how do we see the Lord using us to advance His Kingdom together?” The heart of Adventures Guatemala is to serve, disciple, and send both short-term missionaries and Latinos in Guatemala and throughout the nations. Through processing, we realized that we both have hearts to “leave the ninety-nine and seek the one who is lost,” as Jesus talks about in Luke 15:1-7. While Jesus definitely reached the masses, we see countless stories in the Bible where He is simply searching after the one. One woman at the well, one paralyzed man, one sick boy, one dead man, the list goes on! Not to mention the disciples that Jesus is continuously pouring into throughout the whole journey. Jesus saw power in taking the time to seek and save the one; and usually, those “ones” were the ones who then went out and continued to spread Jesus’ message throughout the nations.

We believe that the Lord can use anyone for His Kingdom. And that’s the message that we share wherever we go–in the villages, so many families and kids feel hopeless, thinking “what could I ever do for the kingdom of God?” Our goal is to bring the Good News to these people, letting them know that with God, all things are possible! With God, we are called His sons and daughters and we can make an impact on the lives of others around us! We want to empower and raise up leaders in Christ who have a “yes” in their heart to serve wherever God calls them to serve! We want to see Guatemalans going to the nations, and we also want to see Guatemalans who stay in their hometowns, sharing the love of Jesus to their neighbors and families. Ultimately, we just want to empower people to have a “yes” for the Lord!

Thanks for reading, we love y’all!
